Characterist in the news: Restaurant and bar going to court in bid to stay at Fullerton (The Straits Times, 6 August 2018)

Characterist LLC’s Noel Oehlers and Nicole Chee acted for Galeno Pte Ltd, a tenant at the Fullerton Waterboat House, operating the 1919 Waterboat House and The Rooftop Bar.

Galeno had inked three-year agreements in respect of the premises with the landlord, which included two-year renewal options. A dispute subsequently arose between parties, Galeno citing the landlord’s failure to offer it the contractually-stipulated options to renew, despite its written requests for the same.

Characterist LLC commenced proceedings in the High Court on Galeno’s behalf, to seek specific performance of the afore-mentioned option to renew clauses. Parties have since reached an amicable settlement, and the case has been discontinued.
